Massimiliano Ferronato (male) Got the Degree in Civil Engineering with honours at the University of Padova (Italy) in 1998 and the PhD in Numerical Geomechanics at the Technology University of Delft (The Netherlands) in 2003. Since 2020, he is Full Professor at the University of Padova. He is the 2017 recipient of the Excellent Regional Contribution Award of the IACMAG (International Association for Computer Methods and Advances in Geomechanics). The main scientific interests concern the development of computer methods for simulating the mechanics of saturated and partially saturated porous media, with engineering applications to the geomechanical behavior of deep producing reservoirs, geological formations used for storage purposes, e.g., CO2 sequestration, and shallow multi-aquifer systems, including the analysis of fault activation, fissure generation, failure risk and land subsidence. He has been involved in a number of national and international research projects, funded by the European Union, Italian Ministry of Research and Education, Venice Water Authority, ENI, ENEL, STOGIT, GASPLUS, EDISON. He has authored and co-authored more than 150 scientific papers published in international journals, books and proceedings of international conferences, and delivered invited talks and keynote lectures in several international symposia.
